New Year’s Resolutions + New Ideas For 2016

Happy New Year friends!

I have had such a wonderful past few weeks spending time with my friends and family. I can’t believe Christmas is over. It came and went so quickly this year!

I am so sad to take down all of my Christmas decorations but excited to change out some of my living room décor. I will be doing some DIY home décor blog posts very soon!

I wanted to share some of my New Year’s Resolutions!

First, just like tons of other people, is to lose weight! I lost 50 pounds last year, but I have plateaued the past few months. I want to lose my last 20 pounds and hit my goal weight by June!

My second resolution is to spend more time on my blog. I want to make the best posts I possibly can and this year I am determined to make them even better!

Next is to have at least one meal a week at the dinner table with NO PHONES ALLOWED! My husband and I both have very busy schedules and tend to eat on the couch or even standing up in the kitchen.

Finally, travel more! Even if it’s just a day trip!  We had an amazing time in Mexico over the summer! Going to Mexico let me mark two things off my bucket list in 2015. Travel out of the country and fly on a plane. We already have a “Friends-cation” in the works!

 Ideas for the New Year!

I decided to include two ideas that can be started for the New Year! I will definitely be doing both!

First, you can set aside a jar that is labeled 2016. Everytime something good happens, write it on a piece of paper and put it in the jar! You can also do this with movie or concert tickets, admission bracelets, and anything else that represents a memorable moment! On New Year’s Eve empty out the jar and reminisce on all the happy memories of 2016!

Second is to save some money! Below is a chart that allows you to save money bi-weekly throughout the whole year! This works great if you get paid every other week! This is a great way to get started saving for Christmas or for a handbag you have had your eye one for a while *hint, hint*.

Let me know if you plan to try out these ideas. Thank you so much for reading! Talk to you in 2016!

This month I received the COVERGIRL VOXBOX.  It included the Plumpify Mascara by blastPRO and Colorlicious Oh Sugar! Lip balm in Caramel.

The Oh Sugar! lip balm I received is in the color CARAMEL. It is a nice neutral color that looks very natural on the lips.

This balm is very moisturizing on the lips. It makes your lips feel very soft and leaves behind just the right amount of color. It has a slight sweet scent but nothing overpowering. Overall, this was a nice lip balm and I look forward to trying more colors.

I am wearing both the Oh Sugar lip balm and the Plumpify Mascara in this picture.

Next, I received the Plumpify Mascara by blastPRO. I have always been a fan of CoverGirl lash blast but I tend to shy away from rubber bristle brushes.

This brush claims to have a “unique mix of conical bristles and fins that will grip, lift, load and comb lashes for 50X more volume.” That’s a lot to live up to!

A little up close and personal with my eye ball. As you can see, this mascara definitely does what it claims! My lashes look amazing! I have worn this mascara a few different times and have not noticed any smudging or transferring.  This will be a permanent addition to my mascara collection!

Overall, this was a great box! CoverGirl has some amazing new products and I cant wait to try more.

Thank you so much for reading! Don’t forget to check out Influenster!

Disclaimer: I did receive these products for free for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

Merry Christmas + A Few More Christmas Favorites!

Merry Christmas Sweet Friends!

I hope you are all having the best holiday season, I know I am! I have had such a wonderful time with my families so far and we still have a few more parties/meals/gatherings to go!

Today I am sharing all of my ideas for blog posts that I was unable to get to this holiday season. A hodgepodge, if you will, of festive, holiday things. From my playlist to nails to hot chocolate. This post has it all!

Christmas Movies

I love Christmas movies, they always put my in the holiday spirit! Some of my favorites are:

  • Elf
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas
  • Love Actually
  • The Santa Clause
  • Home Alone

Christmas Playlist

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is the music! I’ve included my all time favorite Christmas songs! Some are throwing it way back but they never get old!

  • All I Want for Christmas, Mariah Carey (I like Michael Buble’s version too. Actually, anything Michael Buble is okay with me!)
  • Mary, Did you Know?, Pentatonix
  • Last Christmas, Wham! (I can’t help it!)
  • It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Michael Buble
  • Baby It’s Cold Outside, Idina Menzel & Michael Buble (the music video is adorable!)
  • Carol of the Bells, Pentatonix
  • Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, ‘N Sync (still love it)
  • DoYou Hear What I Hear, Carrie Underwood

Christmas Nails

Red and gold are my favorite colors to wear on my nails for the holiday season!

The Best Breakfast Casserole

I have been making the recipe for a few years. My manager Kim from a while back gave it to me and it has been a hit everytime I’ve made it! My husband absolutely loves it and requests it for dinner but it is perfect for Christmas morning!

  • 10-12 whole eggs, whisked
  • 1 can Cresent Rolls
  • 1 bag Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 pound of ground Breakfast Sausage (browned and drained)

Preheat over to 350. In a nonstick pan, unroll cresent rolls in a sheet on the bottom. Sprinkle sausage over cresent rolls. Add eggs and top with cheese! So simple! Bake for 30-45 minute or until eggs are firm.

Hot Chocolate

This is the absolute best hot chocolate recipe, in my opinion. It makes a great Christmas treat, or even a DIY Christmas gift!

Hot Chocolate Recipe:

  • 2 cups instant non-fat dry milk powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup powdered nondairy creamer
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Whipped cream
  • Crushed peppermint (optional)

This is such a yummy treat! Layer the hot chocolate mix, chocolate chips, peppermint and marshmallows in a jar for a perfect gift!

I hope you enjoyed!

Merry Christmas Sweet friends!

Quick DIY Gift + Ugly Christmas Sweater Birthday Party

Hello Sweet friends!

Today I have a quick DIY post for you and some pictures from my husband’s Merry Ugly Christmas Sweater Birthday party!

For all the ladies at work (and one gentleman) I made these personalized coffee mugs filled with hot chocolate, chocolates and a candy cane. This DIY is very affordable if you have to give to a lot of people. I made 10 mugs and my total cost was around $50! I guarantee everyone will love them!

What you will need for the coffee mugs:

ceramic coffee mugs

acetone or alcohol

OIL BASED Sharpie markers

stencil or sticker

Start by using your acetone or alcohol to clean the mug where you will be making your design. This removes all the dirt and oils so the marker stays better. If you want to do what I did, you can take scrapbook stickers or a stencil to make the blank space for your letter. I just made small dots to outline the letter with two different colors and made the dots more sparse the further I got away from the letter. Let the mugs dry over night. After they have dried over night, place them in a cool oven. Turn oven on to 350.  Bake for 350 degrees for 1 hour. Leave the mugs in the oven until they are completely cool. (It is important you let them heat up and cool down in the oven, if you do not, it can cause the mug to crack or break).

Once your mugs are cool, fill them with whatever goodies you want! You can even make your own cookies or candies to put in them. I decided to put in a package of hot chocolate mix, some Christmas themed candies and a peppermint.

I also wanted to share some pictures from our Ugly Christmas Sweater Birthday Party. My husband’s birthday is December 22 so his Mom and I decided to give him a themed birthday.

Even his cake had on an ugly Christmas Sweater!

The sweaters that everyone wore were hilarious but I ‘ll just show you mine and my husbands.

Thanks you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed and that you are having a great Holiday season so far!

Monthly Subscription Services [December Ipsy Glam Bag + Rocksbox]

Happy Thursday Loves!

It’s my favorite time of the month! Monthly subscription time!! This month’s products in my Ipsy bag are perfect for the holiday season!  I can’t wait to show you a holiday look using some of these products in a few days! My Rocksbox doesn’t disappoint either! Can’t wait to style those on my Instgram!

First, let’s talk about December Ipsy.

ModelCo Lip Enhancer Illusion Lip Liner

As for lip liners, I’m not the biggest fan. I never have been one to have to line my lips. This one is nice, I love the color. It has decent staying power and isn’t too drying. I would wear this topped with a gloss for a nice nude lip.

Pacifica Power of Love Natural Lipstick

I really wanted to love this lipstick, it is such a gorgeous color! I am loving the darker neutrals. The formula just wasn’t right for me. It was too drying on the lips and looked cakey. I will continue to work with it but my first impressions aren’t good for this one.  I wanted to layer it over the lip liner but that was just bad. Too dry.

RickyCare by Ricky’s NYC Classic 3D Blender

This beauty blender style tool is not new to my collection. I have tried quite a few of these. I have had many hits and misses, but this one from RickyCare is a hit! I use this sponge damp to apply my foundation and it works wonders. It applies evenly and looks natural on the skin. My only complaint with this and all sponges is the fact that you have to use more products because the sponge absorbs a good bit. I will continue to use these types of sponges to apply my makeup until I find a better option!

Marc Anthony Hair Care, Coconut Oil and Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Treatment

This products was okay. Honestly I haven’t noticed a difference in my hair. It smells really good though! I will continue to use it to see if it takes more time.

FORMULA X Nail Polish in Revved Up

I love the color of this nail polish! It is such a gorgeous rose gold color. It applies very easily without streaking. I have had it on for 2 days with no chips so far. It is a perfect color for the holidays!

If you would like to sign up for Ipsy for only $10 a month, you can click here!

I also wanted to start sharing my new Rocksbox everytime I get one! I have had a few people asked me to explain how it works. Rocksbox is a monthly subscription service. For $19 per month, you get 3 handpicked designer jewelry pieces to borrow. It allows members to rent 3 pieces of designer jewelry at a time with the option to buy at a discounted price.

I kept one piece from my first box! I couldn’t let that Kendra Scott Rayne necklace go!

When you are done, just send what you don’t want back and you’ll get 3 more pieces! You can do this as many times a month as you would like! It is free shipping both ways.

When you sign up for Rocksbox, you take a style quiz so the person creating your box knows what you like. You also have a wishlist which you can add your favorite jewelry to! I really have enjoyed it so far! You can use my code brittnieverydayxoxo to get your first month free! You can also  choose to give the gift of Rocksbox to a friend for 3,6 or 12 months too!

I hope you are all having an amazing holiday season! Thank you so much for reading! What are your favorite subscription services?!

Why Buy it When You Can DIY it?! [Quick, Easy Chrsitmas Treats]

Hello Loves!

Today  I have some DIY Christmas treats! These are super quick, easy and don’t require a ton of ingredients!

Candy Cane Chocolate Hearts

The first thing I have to show you are Candy Cane Chocolate Hearts. These are very easy to make and only require a few ingredients.

You will need mini candy canes, chocolate chips and parchment paper.

The first thing that you should do is lay out the candy canes in heart shapes. Bake at 350 for about 4 minutes until the candy canes a slightly melted together.

In a bowl, melt some of your chocolate chips in the microwave for about 45 seconds. Using a tooth pick I added the chocolate to the middle of the hearts. Let cool.

You can eat these as a treat or us them to flavor your hot chocolate or coffee!

Chocolate Dipped Oreos.

For this DIY, you will need Oreos, chocolate chips, sprinkles, crushed peppermint and food coloring.

(Using the food coloring makes your chocolate a little dry and hard to work with, I worked with it and it dried hard but I wanted to give you a heads up).

I dipped or spread the chocolate on the Oreos and topped with the peppermints and sprinkles. I also drizzled some of the Oreos with chocolate.

These look so cute displayed for a Christmas party and make a delicious  treat.

White Wine Spritzers.

For this recipe, all you need is a bottle of your favorite white wine, Sprite Zero and frozen raspberries. Mix equal parts wine and sprite and add your frozen raspberries.

So simple and delicious! I can guarantee these will be a hit at your next holiday party!

I hope you enjoyed! Let me know if you try out any of these recipes!

Christmas at the Branham Home + Gift Wrapping Ideas

Hello Loves!

Last weekend my husband and I climbed up in the attic and unpacked all of our Christmas stuff! I was so excited to finally decorate! I had picked up a few new things a couple of weeks ago and they were just sitting in their shopping bags all lonely, so we fix that problem. I am so excited to show you some of my favorite Christmas details in my home. As always, everything is very affordable, and easily accessible. I hope this gives you some ideas!

First is my entryway, I keep this area very simple. My favorite detail is the Christmas bulbs in the lantern!

My family room is my absolute favorite room in my house! We got a great deal on this Christmas tree from Walmart a few years ago (less than $50). It is big and beautiful and I love it! I have never been a person who needed a real tree, we didn’t have them growing up.

The wreath above my fireplace was a DIY project I did last year. I got the idea from Pinterest!

All of my decorative pillows are from Target and the blanket is from Walmart.

The majority of my other Christmas décor is from Target, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, TJ Maxx and of course Thrift Stores!

I also wanted to share with you my favorite way to wrap presents. I think these packages just look so cute stacked underneath your Christmas tree.

This brown packing paper is from The Dollar Tree. You get a ton of paper for one dollar. I picked up 3 rolls and that was plenty to wrap all of my gifts.

Twine, string and unique gift tags are a great addition to your presents. I picked up these kits from Target.

Adding glitter ornaments from the dollar tree give a special touch to all your gifts!

A metallic marker for writing names just ties everything together!

I hope you enjoyed! Thank you so much for reading. Merry Christmas!
